Look, it is not as simple as you make it out to be. This issue has been discussed in many books and they all came to the conclusion that I just stated. So there could be a situation where you add this awesome tag of yours to a table with smaller number of records, different table structure and you end up slowing down the Query so like the books recommend 'You Test it' not me testing it as your Data layout is a major factor.
