Ken Levy has stated that VFP will be marketed to current users.

>VFP is a great product one that I have been using since the days of FoxBASE.
>
>I have seen posts where Access is the MS tool of choice for end users and small apps. Beyond that we are told to use VB and SQL Server. Any new development of course should be done with C# or VB.NET according to MS.
>
>The reality is that I have plenty of work to do such that there is not much free time to learn things like .NET at work or away from it. Couple that with the perceived long learning curve associated with .NET and it is just not anything I see myself getting into in the next six months. Sure I will look at it and am not opposed to it at all. Just need to continue to pay the bills in the interim by being as productive as possible. Most employers what good solid results not neccesarily the latest technology if there is little added value.

> Is there now or will there be a MS backed strategic position of VFP 8? That is, is there a scenario where VFP is considered the best tool for the task?
>

>That is will VFP 8 only be marketed to persons that have previously used an older version of Fox or can VFP be marketed as a great middle tier tool or superceed something like Access for small applications? BTW, I have never used Access but have only heard it can not handle data anywhere near the capabilities of VFP.

>Obviously anyone can chime in here. We already know what Joe Bob will say, so his sermon is not needed. I am interested in the views of others - particularly the views of Mr Ken Levy.
