I've had similar experience with VFP help files (the foxhh...dll and exe) which I targeted (in the setup) to where they already were (c:\program...\common\...), and which got deleted after an uninstall of the app, and then VFP started complaining and invoking something that looked really like the setup of the app (because it was probably "in charge" of these components now).

That may be it, or something of that sort.
