I agree and for that reason I made up a rather simple (and limited) function, called
maketable(<some paramters>)
(see message #690813). This function converts a cursor or a table into an Excel sheet via automation, if you provide the column header lines via a different header.xls, giving width and orientation. Fonts etc are fixed, but can be easily parameterized as well with little additional work.

Rather simple, but it works for me - maybe it is a starter for you.
