It really depends on how big the dataset it and how much time you have to move it all around.
FYI the tricky part when I did it a few years ago was the primary keys...if the road-bound person is going to be ADDING data then you need to set it all up so they have their own set of primary keys...it's not overly complicated I just started them out at a high number.
