Hey Todd

hmm, you are asking a hard question, VFP isn't a graphics program, have you looked into OLE with other programs or active-x controls that might give you better performance?

I’m not sure what to tell you …..

The only thing I can think of to increase performance is to change the pictures to jpeg and to look at the system memory function I think sys(3015) if not ask the group (I don’t have VFP in front of me)

Sorry I couldn’t help you more

>>>I have a group of 30 GIF's (745 x 795 pixels with
>>>transparent backgrounds) that when placed on top
>>>of each other, create a mosaic of the entire image.

>The 30 images are of a timbered landscape (forestry based application), each one representing a single planning unit. The image containers are stacked on top of each other with the left and top of each equal to the others. This gives the user the effect that the units are a mosaic. The next step is to swap files for a given unit to show the result of different silvicultures (harvest methods). In other words, we are showing what the landscape will look like if a particular unit is logged using a selection method, commercial thin, or other type of silviculture. By displaying all 30 units at the same time, we show the user what the combined result will look like.

>Unfortunatly, using this method produces very slow refresh times. While 3 - 5 seconds may not seem like much, we feel it is excessive and will cause the user to lose interest quickly. the user in this case is the general public as this application is intended to be an educational kiosk on forestry
