ANYONE can be a beta tester. You don't need a "back-channel" to become one. It's too late for VFP8, but not for VPF9. Send an email to
betareq@microsoft.com. You'll get an auto reply on how to apply for a beta program.
.NET was not only a whole new product but a different way of doing things. It makes sense that they would want as many people playing with it as possible. FYI, there were major changes between beta 1 and beta 2. Some were so significant that the code had to be completely rewritten to run.
