"Almost sure" has kept more than one problem alive longer than needed. It wouldn't hurt to check this afternoon.

What OS is the server. If your answer is 2000, please say pro or Server.

>I am almost sure that apart from the fact that there are about 86 users accessing this system, the server is not busy with any other activity.

What happened after all the trouble described? ... did things get restored to try to remedy things? ...Did the overnight job run as usual, without change and without encountering problems? Do things look OK today so far for the online users?

Is the table in question a FREE table or part of a .DBC? If FREE, does it contain information that might be useful to an EXCEL or LOTUS user? I suppose that such a free table could be accessed by such a user (or some other program) and not affect the .CDX.

again, good luck
