Yes a few
- integration - solution from one company - OS - database server - appliaction software. Less colusions.
- easy to hire and train personel in this technology, there a lot of training firms and many Universities provide that kind of courses
- cheaper - server licence - 5000, enterprise server license - 20000.
- scalablity
- big market share
- more investment in improvement and development
- offer newest technologies
- better performance. Only Oracle in some field is beter - like image searching.
If you store business information this is the best solution and of course you have XML support and easy to make powerful web applications with it.
They can think, but they must make a cost-performance table and will see that consultant who try to provide that solution is wrong.
If they never work with DB2 lets make some test with both databases, after that will think in different way. My personal advice is to get proficient SQL DBA administrator or MCSD, who to make a small presentation and after that to ask them.
