Tamar;

It seems disgusting to me that if you took all the wealth gained by all music composers from the Baroque through the Contemporary Classical period, it would not equal what one garage rock and roll band has earned. The difference is you will hear the classical music for many years and the rock group is soon forgotten.

One of my favorite operettas is from Sigmund Romberg and titled 'The New Moon'. I wanted to get the sheet music for a performance I was going to give. The music is copyrighted and has not been printed for many years. We could not find the music anywhere and found out some interesting things.

1. Many copyrighted works are out of print. The copyright is still in effect.

2. To Xerox a copy or copies for a school or anyone else of an existing piece of copyrighted work is illegal.

3. Many wonderful works cannot legally be preformed due to copyrights.

Reality can be a sour note! :)

Tom
