SQL Server performance depends more on your hardware confogiration: memory, HDD (is it SCSI, do you have RAID etc.) It also could depend on network loading and other tasks assigned to that server. Once again: if you have no any other NT servers you HAVE TO make it PDC, oherwise you shell make it member server.
