At my office we use PVCS Version Manager.

When you say 'how good' with not text files. It is able to maintain the changes and deltas. Of course, you can really do diff or compare. we also don't use the integrated part of it with project manager. Doing that it is clumsy and you don't have access to all the features of the Version Manager client.

Also, don't try to use that Project merging PJM stuff. No one I know has ever got that to work right, with VSS and others.

BTW: PVCS Version Maanger just merged the I-net server with the normal product so you can access it with a browser on the intra or inter net. With VSS as far as I know you need a third party product to allow remote users.

Also, PVCS works with many platforms and it also integrates with Tracker (bug tracking) and their Configuratino Managment and Project Managerment tools, which we don't have.
