Update. I just checked the site, and it seems that server versions are available for Windows 98, too. And, the software is still free (for as long as you like!) up to a maximum of 1-2 users.
Come to think of it - I should try this myself. Sometimes I have trouble connecting to the server. OTOH, having a separate server (when available, as in my workplace) is a good complement to a backup policy. Difficult decision.
