I couldn't resist the subject line... <g>
Brief was a DOS text editor, put out by a company called Underware that then changed their name (don't remember to what) and was finally bought by Borland a long while ago. There were two macro libraries for the XBase developer: dBrief and Quiet Flight (put out by Randy Wallin).
As an aside, if any of you remember Lior Hod who used to work with me - I've never managed to get him to stop using Brief... <g>

>Those of you who started long ago with clipper and dBase probably know about it. Does anybody know if it stepped into the windows-graphics technologies or turned into something else?
