But it could also increase sales of the "release" version if it has less bugs. My understanding of any BETA is:-

1) It is pre-release and unfinished.
2) It will have bugs and may be unstable (which have to be found and dealt with).
3) The overall intention is to improve the product before release.

MS decided to put BETAs of VS .NET out to a much larger audience and I can only imagine they saw benefits in doing this. I only wish that MS would do the same for VFP as I think it would benefit in the same way.
