It depends on country he lives :)

In Russia as usually one advice - take a piracy CD with piracy MSDL and study
VFP developer's book. After that take any task which you like and develope
easy program for gaining selfconfidence and basic skills. After that this
recruit is ready for making money (not very much, because he has to study
something else like accounting or loggistic).
And only after some years (when he earns more money -) he will buy license
FoxPro software, may be. (((
I have to mentioned that we have some web sites where we can download VFP
books in Russian language for free and take elementary help.

Only a few persons asked me that magic question "How to start FoxPro" and I
gave them that advice. I do not know what happend with them, may be
they develop FoxPro program now? Who knows...
