Della,
Hi. Prior to receiving your message, I visited the Crystal website knowledgebase and printed out several articles related to this issue. In the end (just yesterday I finally got everything working) as it turns out, you were right on and I did just as you had suggested in your message. I let VFP take the MEMO field and make it an 80 character CHAR field and let Crystal simply read it and spit it out. The most difficult trick in my Crystal Report was reading several of those 80 char fields from multiple records and saving them to display later all together as a collection of 80 char fields in the group section level.
Thanks for affirming that what I have done is probably the best way to do it.
I have a binder 3" thick with Crystal knowledgebase articles that I have printed out and saved because I need to reference them frequently. I do so many charts and reports in Crystal that it is difficult to remember all the little workarounds from one chart to the next. I think I have a love/hate relationship with Crystal Reports.
Have a good one. Thanks again.
