This was true a few years ago but I do not know if it is still used today. The upper left of an advertising page cost more than the lower right. The reason is or was (as the case may be) the way we are taught to read in the Western World - that is from left to right. Our eyes will first focus and began to scan from that area of a page. The left most pages cost more than right pages in a multi page ad.

There were also rules for the number of different fonts and colors. Most important is to let the picture tell the story. "We want your money"! Any word may be substituted for the word “money”. :)
