I have an old DOS database program that is used to verify users as they sign in. There is a card reader connected to the system and the user swipes their card and the system does a lookup to verify access. If the card is valid the system calls a com file to send a signal to an I/O board to trip the turnstile. The card reader is connected using a wedge reader so that the system sees the input as a keyboard entry.

Now we need to expand and update this. We are re writing this in Access. The client is adding an iris scanning system. In talking to the iris people what they have suggested is to write a stored procedure that they can use to send the card number to the system for verification. And then I will, from within the stored procedure activate the turnstile via an active x control that will then send the signal to the I/O board.

Can anyone give me an outline of what I need to do.

Possibly someone may be interested in writing or assisting in writing a portion of this.

Thanks
