I usually don't do most of the reporting at our company, so I have another question for you. The statement that you made below seems to be common knowledge:

>>If I want absolutely NO white space I will set all of the values of the detail objects on the report and then lay them on top of each other. <<

I usually butt one detail line up to the next one and make sure Remove if line is blank is checked. This seems to work for me and makes the report easier to maintain. Do you know of a scenario when this will not work?
