What are they saying now?
What you say makes complete sense. FWIW our company has exhibited at a number of shows over the years, even if there are 20,000 attendees (as there were at HiMMS earlier this year) you still have to be *very* sure that attending carries a commercial benefit if you are going to pay the $ it costs these days.
You know, I have never attended a VFP conference. Life events like being in an aeroplane or attending a daughter's birth always seem to intervene. This year for the first time I expected to attend a conference since I am in the US in Michigan/Indiana and it was the GLGDW I really wanted, but alas it isn't to be.
However I can type "foxpro" on Amazon- (gee, look at all these books from Hentzenwerke)- and I'm sure I'm not the only one. You don't need to pay $8000 to reach people who can click their mouse.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
