I lived in Brasil (Rio) for several years when I was very little. I don't remember any monkeys. I do remember the cruzeiro was so devaluated that it cost millions of them to buy popcorn from the street vendors.

Brasil is a great place!

I also remember receiving a wooden pony from a member of the Soviet embassy on my birthday but that's a whole different story.....
