That makes a lot of sense if your only getting 1.6 Mbs. I would be wondering why however. I have only gotten as low as 5.5 Mbs with my 802.11b network when I get to the edge of the coverage area. As long as I stay in the good to medium signal range it seems to stay up there. I guess different vendors products perform differently. I use DLink products for mine.
