I am sorry not to have got back to you immediately. My problem is that the problem is on a machine at another site, that I have not been successful in accessing since you sent your message.
I can say that the result set is about 100,000 records of 350 bytes, taken from a five table SQL with two left outer joins. The SYS(3050) setting is 512 Mbytes and the server has 2Gig of memory. All the joins are tagged on both sides.
There is 30 Gig of free disk space on the C: drive where TMPFILES is.
I have had this problem more than once, but only recently, and only on machines with at least a Gig of physical memory. I am going to try to reduce the SYS(3050) setting as a first stab. There is a SYS(1104) immediately before the offending SQL.
