Hello,
We have a central system (SCT Banner) that runs on Oracle8 . We're planning to call some Stored Procedures, some with IN/OUT Parameters and some that return Recordsets (or "arrays"), using an OleDB provider for Oracle. As the Stored Proc.s are being written, there is already discussion that "outside" systems won't be able to handle Oracle data types such as Dates and Booleans and that these should be translated by the SP to be output as char equivalents. From the sample docs from Oracle, I was under the impression that the Oledb provider would handle providing Dates and Booleans in a way that is usable by VFP, Delphi, etc. Does anyone know if there is a problem for a VFP app to handle Date and Boolean type vals returned from a SP?.
Also, I've been using the MSADORA provider on our Web server for awhile, for calls from Web Connection and ASP apps. I've implemented Oracle's OraOleDB provider on a test server and it seems to work well - I've seen in other posts that providers from Oracle are generally recommended over those from MS - is this the case for OraOleDb over MSADORA as well?
Thanks for any help
