If you are looking to create shortcuts at install time, most installers already have this functionality built in.

The problem is that I am not using an installer. I have the application in one directory and the datafiles in another directory. Even the runtime files are in teh application directory which also contains the executable. Modifcations that I am doing now would have to deal with more than one directories that have the executable. And all I am looking for is a simple way of creating a desktop shorcut that will link unquely to each of the specifc executables. They would all use the same data direcotry.
