Yes, I just did the same tests with the same results. Its an os thing !

Update: Interesting thing - if you minimize all apps using the Windows Show Desktop icon then the memory of the apps is *not* reduced! Clearly, the reduction in memory for an app that is minimized is a function that can be selectively applied.
