>>>In running the Setup Wizard, I have tried including the shortcut (.LNK) file, but it just gets installed into the target directory. There's no program group or desktop icon that gets installed, even though I told Setup Wizard to create a program group. I figure I'm missing something somewhere. Appreciate the help. TIA,

>>I assume that you're using VFP 6.0. A couple of suggestions. First, you'll have to create the desktop shortcut in a post-setup program. Second, you can use either the Windows Script Host or my Lnkfiles.dll (in the UT downloads) to create the shortcut. Information on the WSH can be found in the series of VFUG newletter articles Ed Rauh and I wrote. The series began in September 2000. The article covering this functionality appeared in the October, 2000 issue. The entire series is available on-line at www.vfug.org.

>Yes, I am running VFP 6.0. Thanks for your suggestions. I've looked into the WSH a little before, but not enough to actually use it. I've got Dino Esposito's book, "Windows Script Host Programmer's Reference." Are your articles more straight-forward than his book? Also, I've tried telling Setup Wizard that I wanted to run a post-setup .BAT file, but can't get that to work. Is there a bug in VFP 6.0 Setup Wizard? Or, can just run .EXE post-setup? Or...?

Chuck,

A post-executable would probably be best. That's what I did to install it in VFP 6.0.

As for the articles, I'd say so simply because they're written in VFP syntax rather than VBScript or JScript. Fundamentally, they cover things that you either can't do in VFP or can do with a ton of API code, but can do more simply with the WSH.
George
