Peter,

Something deep down in VFP7 is going recursive but shouldn't be. If you follow the procedure for generating the error, you never make it to the ERROR call - it dies out in the IF nError = 1705 higher up in the error handler.

For even more fun with this one, I compiled it into a EXE and ran that. The result was "Error 182 encountered while attempting to report error 182". 182 is "Menu specified in ACTIVATE POPUP is already in use". The error is complete nonsense but does indicate the VFP tossed it's cookies recursively.

I'm just fishing for a non-kludge workaround since Mike confirmed my findings. I can't be the only one out there whose using the error method of the data environment - or am I? Am I not going about this the right way? How do others handle the same situation?

Thanks!
