Thanks for the over abundance of information. I understand all you have written, however, this customer is insisting we use EDI to communicate with them. I ask why they are wasting their time on EDI when XML would be much better for the future......They told me they were testing XML but the conversion would take at least another year.....go figure....

So I'm back to building EDI files and sending them to their mailbox on the VAN and downloading documents from them from the VAN.

I was just looking for a tool that would help.

So it is back to some tech specs and books and get the @#$% written....
