I think we're talking about two different things. I assumed from the question, that the person wanted the location of the Program Files shortcuts as opposed to the Program Files folder.

The Program Files folder isn't a special (and no, it doesn't have low self-esteem< s >) folder. The reason for this is that there's nothing that says that all applications must reside beneath it. OTOH, the location of the shortcuts most definitely has to be in one of two places to appear on the Start Menu/Programs menu. These are the All Users Programs and the user specific (under Win2K and XP) Program menu.

Sorry for the confusion.
