Hi,
I spent this morning reading over the Momo web site. It is exciting to see all the work that is being done by the open source community in the delevopment of the Momo Project. I have never tried Window .NET or Momo, so I feel a little lost in determining how portable an application would be that is written in .NET. From what I gathered, Momo .NET is on track and should be available in the near future to Windows .NET developers that would like to also make their .NET apps available on the Linux platform. I found the following listed under the plans link on the Momo web site:
Plans
ADO.NET
ASP.NET
Java
Window.Forms
The momo team may use the wine libraries (eg winelib) to implement their version of Window.Forms.
I do not know why the article "C# The Sweet Spot" appearing in the October issue of Software Development insinuates that .NET is strictly a Windows animal. I will look for a rebuttal about this in the forecoming issue of the magazine.
