Thanks you for the information. Most of our production computers are still using WIN95 and they should all be using the newest available netware client.
I will forward this email to out network administrator to see if she finds this information useful.

Thanks,
Einar

>Einar,
>What version of Windows are the clients machines running and what Netware client? It might be possible that the table is addressed by the application but the table is never actually opened because of exceeding available file handles.
>To see if this might be the case, check to see what setting for FILEHANDLES= in the NET.CFG in the C:\CLIENT32 or C:\NETWARE\CLIENT32 on the client computers. Also check to see what settings, if any, are in the CONFIG.SYS on the client computers. For earlier Netware clients and Windows, the sum of FILEHANDLES= and FILES= could not exceed 255. We used to set FILES=99 and FILEHANDLES=150
>Later clients were supposed to eliminate this problem by dynamically allocating file handles.
>One last thing: Do the client computers have UPS power backups attached? Check to see if the problem comes up at only certain times of the day. If so, this may indicate a power-related problem: Network connections are maintained in RAM, a power-sensitive area of the computer. We recommend to all our clients to have a UPS for each computer (especially if they are in a big industrial complex) for just such a reason.
