I'm sure Apples' version of java would fall under the same license. After all, the idea behind java was to "write once and run everywhere", which require that java be standardized across all platforms. Sun initiated a lawsuit against Microsoft when Microsoft began extending the java language outside the standard, thus violating the license agreement with Sun. If Apples' java had special functionality, the code would break when porting to other platforms defeating the "write once run everywhere" java advantage.
If he is refering to the Apple MAC OS X that would be the Darwin port of the BSD OS. Darwin is LGPL and, IIRC, uses the Blackdown java. They aren't bound by the MS agreement, are they?
