Hank,

Are you using SOS Classic or SOS Collaborative Edition. Version number?

I'm leaning towards the later. I wonder if any of these quirks have been dealt with in the latest versions that are available?

>We've been using SOS for almost two years now, in integrated fashion. It throws and error warning when there isn't one; and makes you log in more than you should have to; but aside from those nits (which they blame on VFP, but whose to say, and I've put Randy Brown in touch with them, although I don't know if either side followed up), the fact is that it works. Very easy to install (5 minutes). There can be an issue in getting SOS and VSS to show up at the same time in the Options/Projects/Source Control Provider dropdown; their tech people will give you the directions to fix it if it happens. Their tech support, as far as it goes (referring to the VFP issues), is first-rate.

What _does_ matter, though, is that the server has to have some horsepower, especially processor speed. Probably due to the COM overhead (the SOS server runs VSS as a COM object on the server).

>>I seem to remember readin a magazine article recently that discussed VSS and Source Off Site. I thought it might have been an issue of Fox Advisor or FoxTalk, but I can't find put my hand on any articles. (I'm poking for information on Source Off Site and any tips or pitfalls I can find.)
