Hypothetical question for you (I realize earlier I was trying to avoid specifics, but let me return to your story):
If the discovery and consumption alcohol itself changed human nature, why should there be any objection to another change in the opposite direction, but this time, more deliberate?
I am unsure why you believe that such a change is outside the realm of science. I have some ideas.
