I received some emails from developers having troubles running my demo of the Report Designer/Preview/Printer ActiveX Control that I am developing. It was mostly a problem with having the ActiveX Control registered properly on the system or not having registered it at all. So, I have now created an Install program using Wise which you can now download.

Please realize that this is work in progress and just as of Saturday night I decided to go ahead and add support for Designing a VFP Report using the control as well as rewriting my VFP Report Engine in Delphi into the control. It looks like I should be able to allow for designing your VFP Reports in a FULL PAGE view with the ability to ZOOM in and out in both the Design and Preview modes. Not all of the toolbars are functional. However, it should give a pretty good idea of where I am going. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I am trying to make a better User Interface for our beloved VFP Report Writer. I am making it much easier and faster to lay down shapes, labels etc. as well as getting to the toolbars to change the Font, Colors, etc. I have also over the weekend moved about 90% of the VFP Report Engine into the ActiveX control and gained about a 3 fold increase in performance when running standard VFP Reports. It still has more work to add more support but it will also give you a good idea of performance. It's speed is getting about as close as I can get to writing the control in C++ as an FLL. Which would be a major pain! :-)

You can still Preview the control in a web browser or download a VFP6 Demo Form as well at my site:

In the VFP Form you will see a VFP Script button that actually calls the Controls Methods to generate a Report into the control. It is Very Fast! Each click on script button will pump out 100 pages. Set the Process in Background mode on with the Checkbox to see how much faster it runs. It does not try to refresh the pages or move pages when it is set to ProcessInBackground.

Thanks for checking it out and please send me any feedback. I'm still trying to get it ready to release before DEVCON.
