Ah, I didn't realize you were buffering your locking table. You shouldn't do that, just like you shouldn't buffer your NextId table, or whatever you call the table that you use to assign PKs. You want users to see any changes to those kinds of tables immediately.
When I asked this question, there wasn't a locking table. I was using fields in the data records themselves, and that table was buffered. Using a locking table was the answer to my original question. Which reminds me... I should go do that stars thingy if you all are still doing that here. (Haven't been around much lately)
