Now an Update from me :)

I tried what I described in my other message from another machine. I was told that the file is checked to another place, but I could give VSS any existing folder on the local harddisk and it did the "undo checkout". BTW: I'm running VSS6 SP6. Maybe this makes a difference?!

VSS needs to be able to access the ".vss" files on the users hard drive that are created in each folder of the project that you join. Without those files SourceSafe doesn't allow you to undo or check-in a project or files. (I tried and that is the error I got.)
