Hi Virusim:

I think you will find plenty of support for XModem on Unix/Linux. It's been awhile since I had to do this with Unix (SCO Unix at that time) but when I did I had a little Xmodem utility that would send and receive on the Unix side. It was a utility that either came with SCO or was downloadable. I was uploading and downloading files from hand held computers that drivers had in their trucks. Xmodem is a very old and very common protocol.

The nice thing about using something like Xmodem is it does the error handling it's self; otherwise you have to reinvent the wheel with your own code.
