I think that is a good idea. However, if you are considering a framework for longterm future use, before committing to ANY of them, I would try to see at least one more for comparison. A framework is quite a commitment, especially financially, but well worth the cost. I'm sure there must be more VFP developers in Ohio! What about a user's group? Is anyone using Mere Mortals, Visual MaxFrame, or VFE? I know F1 Technologies (VFE) is located in Toledo, so they must have at least some users there within a reasonable distance? I would try to see at least one other framework (preferable all of them if you could!) in use for comparison if possible before investing. I know that Kevin of MM is creating a framework for .net also. I'm not sure how similar the functionality will be between the VFP framework and .net framework, but maybe he will jump in here and give us a clue?? :o) Or you could send him an email asking about it...

Also, having other developers around or available via a forum that use the same framework is very important. I know that VFE's support forum is up and available 24x7 and I've never had any problem, question, or idea that couldn't be discussed and resolved on the forum. There are always other developers on the forum and everyone is willing to share their knowledge. Questions regarding MM and other frameworks are also answered here on the UT and as you know, the UT is a great resource. Also, if there are other framework users at your local users group, then that would be a great resource to have available. Someone to go to in a pinch is a great resource to have. Keep it ALL in mind when you are making a choice you may have to weigh the pros and cons of each framework to determine which one meets your primary requirements.

Some issues that were important to me when I was looking:

1. support n-tier development
2. easily customizable
3. OOP
4. wizards (that don't inhibit #2 above)
5. developer support
6. support multiple backends
7. 3rd party product integration

Good luck,
Tracy

>Thanks very much for your response. I do have consultants in the area that use VPM. We may be working on projects jointly. VPM seems very constricting and more like an app generator than a framework (I am currently going through a vpm tutorial). I have heard that vpm is going to creating Frameworks for VB.Net and C#. This is very appealing assuming I will have to learn one framework to handle the other 2 languages.
