Didn't do any benchmarks on this, but I didn't notice any difference in performance from my applications by switching to database.

Longer field name.
Stored validation expressions for fields and the table.
Stored default values.
Referential integrity.
Persistent relations.
Stored procedures (used with triggers, referential integrity, validation defaults, and indexing).
