Will,

You have to make sure SET RESOURCE is ON, but it doesn't gain you much (as you've noticed). The editor preferences are stored on a case by case basis for each class, .prg file, or form. So once you turn it on for a given .prg file, you shouldn't have to again.

You can confirm this by changing the setting for a .prg file, close the file, SET RESOURCE OFF, hunt down and USE foxuser.dbf, go to the bottom and browse it. Bogus, huh? ;)

I observed this under VFP6, VFP7 is probably the same...

>>Another thing... Why doesn't checking the Show line/column position save correctly. I constantly have to uncheck and check it again for it to show up on the statusbar. Another thing is the Show position on the view menu. Why isn't this setting applied to any forms opened. Whenever I open another form or class I have to recheck the Show Positions pad. Very annoying!
