I obviously don't know what the Global Replace form does but would an SQL - Update do the same thing? In this case a SET TALK ON, UPDATE..., SET TALK OFF would supply you with your progress bar. I guess in this case I assume you want to update the source tables.

Is the contents between the SCAN FOR... and ENDSCAN so detailed that the SQL - Update can not be used?
