Ditto on the advise to use network cards, but don't forget you either need a hub or a cross over cable. You can not use a regular network cable between two PCs.

Then you map on the remote PC to a shared drive on the host. So where the data is stored would be in something like C:\data and the other PC would look to the root directory of whatever drive letter you choose to map. You could choose to map the entire drive C: so that they have the same subdirectory name, but for security reasons I wouldn't do that.
