The grid gives you much more control over many details than BROWSE. I think you should forget about BROWSE in your program - it still makes sense to use it for debugging, of course.

The split window, is that BROWSE in one part, and EDIT in the other part? If it is this you want, I think you should place some fields in the "edit" part, to show the contents of the current record.
