>We are running VFP6 app. with Citrix Metaframe & Windows 2000 Terminal Services. After a while users keep getting a Error Reading file (error 1104). This lasts all day long. We've looked into this & found it has to do with Terminal Services sharing file handles but I can't find a specific fix on the MS knowledge base that addresses this. Does anyone know of a fix from MS that helps with this problem.

Mark,

This problem relates to the first user of the application to reference a network file logging off and taking the shared file handle while it is still being referenced by other users who logged on later.

One possible workaround for this problem is to start an application on the Terminal Server machine (or a client) before any other users log in and have that application (it may even be VFP) open the network files used for your application. As long as that application is running it will keep the shared file handle open thus allowing other users to come and go without a problem.

This is practical for us as we have only a few VFP file in our app the main data being in Oracle or SQL server but it may be more of an issue if you have lots of VFP tables.

Regards
Mike
