2) Check out DataClas/VFP by Red Matrix Technologies (disclosure: I am affiliated with Red Matrix). If for no other reason, download the Evaluation Edition and read the complete set of docs included with the Eval Edition. There is material I wrote regarding working with data as an object, connecting to the server, calling stored procedures, etc)
