... and Jim, can you remember the last time your wrote a Select statement "in line" or better yet, CtrlC CtrlV'd it from the command line, with a simple udf in it, that did exaclty what you wanted, and that was perfectly readable for you even 6 months after you deployed?
OK... I know, it must be tough on you, but do not worry, some day they will be able to that in .net as well...
It is strange no, that other languages do not allow to write any sql statements "in line", after all these years. I cannot think it would be difficult for a compile to translate these statement into the add hoc sqlexec or what have you.
