In general, this is fairly difficult. Some specialized "cleanup" programs exist, but I don't know of any freeware.

For associations, I would suggest you get the program "Freedom of Association" from pcmag. It is free, but you have to register as a member.

If the problem is that the program launches automatically, without your consent, there are several utilities - also freeware - to check the startup. The difficulty (if you don't have such a program) is that there are several ways to load a program automatically - certain INI files, the Startup menu, and a host of registry entries.

PC Magazine (www.pcmag.com) also has a freeware program for this - I think it was Startup Cop.
